MAUREEN GRINER

Reflective Supervisor, Infant Mental Health Department

Maureen Griner has been a child and family therapist for over 25 years. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Supervisor) and also a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. She is a Nationally Recognized Trainer and Consultant for the Nurturing Parenting Program. In addition to her Masters Degree in Counseling, Maureen has also completed her Certificate of Infant Mental Health from the University of South Florida. She has been trained in many other programs to support children and families including Circle of Security, Theraplay, Infant Massage, Partners in Parenting Education, Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families, Child Parent Psychotherapy and more.

Maureen spent over 17 years working for the US Army, providing parent education and support through the Family Advocacy Program at Fort Carson, CO. During part of that time, she also provided technical assistance and consultation to several refugee resettlement programs, through the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and the Office of Refugee Resettlement. After moving to Florida, she worked for the University of South Florida for 5 years as an Infant Mental Health Clinician. In addition to her work as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant with Learning Empowered, Maureen still maintains a private practice to support families and children in the community.

Maureen is a passionate advocate for children and their parents. She believes that the best way to support and encourage children is to support and encourage their parents and caregivers. She is equally passionate about early childhood educators, whom she believes have some of the hardest and yet most important jobs in the world!

In addition to her work, Maureen and her husband have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of 4 wonderful sons and an amazing grandson. She loves to run, hike, camp and do anything outdoors!
